- DSG Gearbox consisted of gears on two layshafts which meshed with the centre differential, and two wet-plate clutches nested within each other.
- Carbon-Fibre monocoque chassis with aluminum body and front crash structure.
- Carbon-Ceramic disc brakes on all four corners.
- Aerodynamics were a challenge from the start. The original concept car generated quite a lot of lift and the aerodynamics were altered significantly before the Veyron entered production. To generate a net downforce, under-body venturis were used in conjuction with and a pop-up rear spoiler. Cooling the massive engine was also an initial problem. No less than 10 radiators are used throughout the car. Breakdown: ???
- Even with 400hp more, the Veyron was only marginally faster than the McLaren F1. This was not because of their similar power-to-weight ratios, but because the Bugatti had both a higher drag coefficient and a significantly larger frontal area.
- Hydraulic ride-height control system. This had push-button control for negotiating steep driveways. The ride-height would automatically lower at high speed to minimise drag. It also allowed increased downforce by lowering the front suspension a little more than the rear.
- The variable geometry rear wing acted as an air brake when decelerating from high velocities. It also increased rear downforce to put more grip on the rear tires, and like the McLaren, shifted the center of pressure rearwards thereby increasing stability???
- Compacr W16 engine configuration consisting of two narrow angle (15 degree) V8's sharing a single complex crankshaft. Split crank pins and narrow journals.
